1. 'Mission Mangal' Nears Rs 200 Cr; Becomes Akshay's Highest Grosser

Akshay Kumar's latest release Mission Mangal has earned Rs 193.14 crore at the box office since hitting theatres on 15 August. This makes the film, which is based on the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) 2013 Mars Orbiter Mission, Akshay's highest grosser. Mission Mangal is also Akshay's highest opener till date, having collected Rs 29.16 crore on its first day, surpassing his last Independence Day release Gold (Rs 25.25 crore).

2. Cops to Investigate Salman After Journalist Moves Court

Mumbai’s Andheri court magistrate has reportedly ordered the police to conduct an inquiry into Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in a case of misbehaviour against a journalist. A few months earlier the TV journalist, Ashok Pandey, claimed he was assaulted by Salman and his bodyguards when he was taking pictures of the star. Ashok had moved the court to have a First Information Report (FIR) filed against Salman and his team.

In a new report, the journalist has alleged that the police refused to register the FIR until the court intervened.

After topping People Magazine's list of the best dressed stars with husband Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra has now featured in Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List of 2019. The actor joined George Clooney, Gigi Hadid, Harry Styles, Amal Clooney among others in the list.

Attending the Vanity Fair Best Dressed party, Priyanka stole the show in a red lace strapless dress. Pairing the dress with black pumps and classic red lips, she completed her gorgeous look with her hair pulled back in a bun.

4. Rajkummar Rao's Father Passes Away at 60

Actor Rajkummar Rao's father Satyapal Yadav passed away in Gurugram on Thursday, 5 September, reports ANI. The 60-year-old had been admitted at Medanta hospital for the past 17 days and was cremated on Friday, 6 September, at Madan Puri in the presence of family and close friends.

Rajkummar's father was an employee of the Indian government's revenue department. The Judgementall Hai Kya actor had earlier opened up about the hardships his family faced when he was growing up telling The Indian Express that his teachers paid his school fees for two years.

5. Filmmaker Janak Toprani Accuses ‘Dream Girl’ Makers of Plagiarism

Ever since the trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl has been dropped, we are all excited to see what the film is about. However, there seems to be some trouble for the film, mid-day reported. The makers of Dream Girl have been accused of plagiarism by filmmaker Janak Toprani.

Toprani has alleged that his 2017 film Call For Fun bears resemblance to the Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial, produced by Balaji Telefilms. Dream Girl recounts the story of a man (Ayushmann Khurrana), donning the appearance of a woman.
