Ayushmann Cherishes Success of ‘Dream Girl’ as It Crosses Rs 50 Cr

There’s no stopping Dream Girl at the box office.

Ayushmann Khurrana has been on a roll. While the critics loved him as a cop in Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15, the audience has been all praise for his performance in Dream Girl. The actor’s dream has finally come true as the Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial has crossed Rs 50 crores at the box office.

Dream Girl consolidates and cements its status... Is a bonafide success, with Day 4 [working day] showing negligible decline [despite *lower ticket rates* on weekdays]... Fri 10.05 cr, Sat 16.42 cr, Sun 18.10 cr, Mon 7.43 cr. Total: ₹ 52 cr.

Dream Girl hit the theatres on 13 September and the film broke records by becoming the Ayushmann’s biggest opener till date. The film crossed the Day 1 earnings of all of Ayushmann’s previous hits like Badhaai Ho, Article 15 et al. On the day of its release, Dream Girl had raked in Rs 10.05 crores. Ayushmann’s second biggest opener is Badhaai Ho with Rs 7.35 crore, followed by Article 15 with Rs 5.02 crore.

Speaking about the great start the film has got, Ayushmann says, “I’m delighted that Dream Girl has opened well and there is a lot of positivity around the film. This personal milestone of mine is really encouraging for me. I tried to explore with Dream Girl and tried my hand at doing a mass entertainer and I’m happy that audiences across the country have accepted me as an entertaining hero. As an artist, I have tried to back projects that I felt had the potential to break out in their own genres and this day one result is a strong validation of that.”

Dream Girl is written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. It is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures. The trailer of the film dropped on 12 August.

The trailer showed Ayushmann Khurrana, Annu Kapoor and Nushrat Barucha dealing with a hatke topic. The actor is seen working in a call center, and talking to men as a woman named Puja.
