Stardom is worse than bubble gum. Even if the world tells you through a thousand loudspeakers, you would rather shut your ears, look into the mirror, and tell yourself that you’re a star. Nobody leaves a star. Ever.

Bollywood stars suffering from this lethal disease of ‘try till I die’ need a reality check. Some of them have already tested waters as producers. We suggest a full dive before luck runs out.

Saif Ali Khan

We are really done with Saif’s stiff dance moves and the confused urbane dude mood. And Omkara was almost a decade ago. He is already a weathered producer; he just needs to devote time to producing films where he won’t be seen.

John Abraham

When John Abraham almost took off his swimming trunk, we had an exquisite realisation. His derriere exhibited better expressions in just a few seconds than his whole career put together. But the wooden face took us by surprise when John produced a concept film like Vicky Donor in 2012, and a political thriller, Madras Cafe in 2013. His management degree has certainly shown better results than his acting pursuits. And his few glimpses in Welcome Back only make our wish, that he gives precedence to producing over acting, a little stronger.

Sunny Deol

The once all powerful dhai kilo ka haath is now alive only in forwarded jokes. With fast fading stardom, Sunny Deol’s Punjabi comedies or chest thumping action films are no longer the flavour of the running season. Bhaisaab, take a break from acting, and take up producing perhaps?

Sonam Kapoor

Her fashion sense makes more sense than her acting escapades. No, Miss Kapoor, we are not saying that only average looking actors can act. We are just suggesting that you should gang up with your clever sister, and make some fashionable movies, eh?

Abhishek Bachchan

No actor gets as many chances as junior Bachchan when it comes to attempting a box office hit. After almost a decade and a half in the industry, he is mostly seen in ensemble films. That way, perhaps it is easier to share the responsibility when films tank at the ticket window. Looks like being a producer might be his calling. After all, Paa was an interesting start. And now we hear that a few more films are under development.

Abhay Deol

Unlike his famous cousins who specialised in maar dhaad, Abhay started out on a small note, and in no time, became the star of small budget, offbeat films. Now, the coast is clear and so is his career. Though his maiden production One by Two, made for his lady love Preeti Desai, sank without a trace, we have full faith in the fact that he can become a good film producer.
