TV actor Karanvir Bohra is reportedly making a short film titled Ijazat and what makes it news worthy is that it’s a tribute to Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi’s love story. A still shared on Twitter, which shows Karanvir and his co-star Priya Banerjee recreate an old photograph of Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia at a ice-cream stall near India Gate, gives us a glimpse of the era that the film is set in.

In a recent statement, the actor said, “It’s tribute to Sonia and Rajiv ji’s love story, but it’s fiction. Neither does it have any political agenda nor is it an attempt to grab eyeballs. It is a simple story which is made to create a different content for audience.”

Karanvir obviously doesn’t want any political controversy to end his dream project.

“It is a tribute to love and peace worldwide. I am an actor and my job is to act but sometimes you come across a idea and you don’t want to wait for someone to back it. This is one such product,” he says.

The actor is getting a lot of support from his friends in the industry.

Let’s hope Karanvir’s tribute has a smooth sailing and there are no protests to this fictional love story inspired by the late Congress leader’s appearance on Simi Garewal’s chat show Rendezvous.

“I happened to watch Rendezvous with Simi Garewal with late Mr Rajiv Gandhi. I was so mesmerized by the way he spoke and the way he carried himself - with such elegance. The way he spoke about Sonia Gandhi ji, the way they met and how he geared up the courage to ask permission to his mother, it was all mesmerizing,” says Karanvir, revealing how he got the idea for his short film.
