It was earlier reported that leading man, Sunil Grover, along with producer Vinod Ramani and director Vishal Mishra had received threat calls in December, with demands that certain parts of the film be cut. The calls prompted the makers to file a police complaint in Delhi and it also inevitably lead to the release of the film being delayed.

According to reports, the film is now all set to release on 20 January without any cuts that were demanded by the underworld. Coffee With D revolves around the a popular news anchor and journalist’s mission to interview India’s most wanted gangster.

When we started to actually edit the film according to the threat calls, I was distressed and uncertain as to what can we edit. The threat calls warned us to change the dialogue of all the scenes of the character of the underworld don, which they say is in negative light. I was very clear on that the essence of the film should remain intact. After a lot of contemplation, we have finally decided to release the uncut (albeit CBFC certified) version irrespective of these threats.
