Set to play in his landmark 100th match in the second Test against India in Bangalore on Saturday, AB de Villiers spoke to the media on Thursday pulling the focus firmly back onto the series.

Asked about how he was preparing for the big game and his favourite memories from the 99 outings, he said, “I don’t like looking back too much, I have got lots of time after my career to do that”.

While Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli praised his brand of cricket and called him a “nice and genuine person,” AB made it clear that he had no respect for the ‘good guys’ in the sport.

I’m not a nice guy on the field. I want to win games. I’ll do whatever it takes for us to win games of cricket. If I have to sledge, I’ll get involved like that. I’ll try and get Virat off his game by talking about his technique and little flaws. I’ve never really respected a guy who’s been a ‘nice guy’ on the field. I want opposition to be hard, to play to win games for their team.
