Post the Siachen Glacier avalanche which killed 10 Indian soldiers, Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit said that the Siachen issue should be treated urgently so that no more lives are lost. He added that the time has come to ensure that no more lives are lost under the harsh conditions in Siachen.

Even after having defied death at Siachen, Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad passed away at 11:45 am, on Thursday, after fighting for almost 72 hours in intensive care.

When soldiers are guarding posts at Siachen Glacier, survival is an everyday battle. The harsh conditions at the world’s highest battleground do not make it a combat ground in the real sense.
