Even as claims over Geeta’s family are being contested, India has been celebrating Geeta’s homecoming. #GeetaComesHome has been trending on Twitter and has received positive reactions, in a welcome departure from the acrimony that any mention of our neighbour invites.
Geeta, the deaf-mute daughter of India, returned home after over a decade. She was found aboard the Samjhauta Express train by the Pakistan Rangers in Lahore station and handed over to the Edhi foundation, a social welfare organisation where she was taken care of all these years.

Swaraj also said that Geeta will stay in touch with the Edhi foundation that took care of her in Pakistan.
Geeta’s Reception Cancelled
