PM KP Oli to Face No-Confidence Motion Tabled in Nepal Parliament

The motion was filed after 183 Nepali Congress members, 70 from Communist Party put their signatures for the motion

• Nepal Parliament is set to vote on a no-confidence motion against the under fire Nepal Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, on Thursday.
  
  
• Nepali opposition lawmakers earlier in the month had tabled a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Oli after the embattled leader refused to resign, despite the nine-month-old coalition government being reduced to a minority after the withdrawal of support by the Nepal (Maoist-Centre) party.
  
  
• The motion filed on 13 July was filed after 183 Nepali Congress parliamentarians, 70 from Maoist and three of CPN-United put their signatures on the No-Confidence motion in the 601-member Constituent Assembly.
  
  
• The impasse was reportedly reached after PM Oli backtracked on a verbal agreement he had reached with the Maoist chief in May to hand over leadership of the government to the latter after the Parliament’s endorsing of the new budget.
