Suresh Lad, an NCP MLA assaulted Deputy Collector Abhay Kalgudkar by grabbing him by his collar and slapping him.
The argument was reportedly triggered over the issue of compensation to landowners. However, the officer did not file a complaint against the MLA.
This is not the first case of abuse at the hands of politicians as a Shiv Sena leader has slapped a bank employee in the past and a BJP leader was seen thrashing a woman in Daman some time back.
