It is getting to a point where keeping a track of all the phone brands in India is a nightmare. And you have more names joining the list every now and then. Smartron from India is the latest to get itself a phone made from China and has been designed in India.
The t.phone is company’s next product after the decent success of the t.book 2-in-1 Windows convertible, launched earlier this year.

Priced at Rs 22,999 (right now), the t.phone will be available later this week but we got our hands on the device before that. So here’s our take on yet another phone selling in the market.
From the outset, you get the familiarity of a Smartron product, with its dual tone Orange shade, built over a durable body. Interestingly, Smartron has opted against tweaking the software on the t.phone (fair call, that). However, their use of a Snapdragon 810 processor, leaves us worried.
The phone has got a giant sized 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED display that is crisp and as we’ve come to expect of them, really bright as well.
The company promises us that t.phone has been expertly packed in, devoid of any space between the edges. This, according to them makes the phone (or t.phone) almost unbreakable, no matter on which side it falls.
For its size, we found the t.phone to be really light, and that helps in using the phone without any issues. You get 64GB onboard storage, and get the option to expand up to another 128GB. No worries there. 4GB RAM does enough to keep your multi-tasking needs fulfilled.
In terms of camera, t.phone has gone for the not-so-fancy 13-megapixel at the back which will be tested in the coming days for a better conclusion to be given. Smartron made sure that the front-facing 4-megapixel camera can shoot pictures, even in low-light.
The t.phone gets USB- Type C port for charging, and thankfully you still get the 3.5-mm audio jack. With fast charging promised, Smartron says the t.phone can juice up from 0-60 percent in half an hour, and we’ll test those claims out soon.
For Rs 22,999 the Smartron t.phone will be fighting with the likes of Xiaomi Mi 5 and even the OnePlus 3 with its features. Can this phone with its heralded processor in tow be a product that’s worth going for, stay tuned for our review.
