When it comes to affordable headphone options, there aren’t many which can be ranked as a must have. The usual suspects like Philips, Creative and Sennheiser did manage to scale down with products priced below the 1K mark but most of them didn’t make the cut.

Brands like Xiaomi, Skull Candy and more recently House of Marley have taken it upon themselves to deliver quality audio gear on a budget. And the latest entrant to this category is Tekfusion and its Ecoofers headphones.

What’s Good?

A few years ago, buying a good quality, inexpensive headphone would have been unthinkable. But not anymore. With products like the Xiaomi Pistons 2 and Skull Candy SD2 series, there are plenty of audio accessories that can be confidently picked up.

Yes, they might still crash and burn at first sight but for as low as Rs 700 the risk factor is lower than before. The Ecoofers come in Ebony and Bamboo variants, which make the headphones feel lighter than what you usually manage to get.

The sound drivers deliver balanced audio output which isn’t bass-heavy as Skull Candys, and that will please most music purists. The Ecoofer’s cable is sturdy and as long as you treat them right, they should last you for at least a year, if not more.

Most headphones in this price range are prone to vibrations that can spoil the overall quality of the audio experience. However, Tekfusion has ensured that the use of wood finishing negates excessive vibration and ensures that you can wear the Ecoofers for a longer duration. The company has priced the Ecoofers at Rs 1199, however, you can buy these for as low as Rs 799 right now, which is a sweet deal for our liking.

What’s Bad?

It would be fair to say that Xiaomi has spoilt us for features with the Mi Pistons 2 with its built-in microphone and music control options. The Ecoofers, on the other hand, come devoid of a mic that means you cannot take calls while you’re plugged in.

There is a reason why the Ecoofers are priced this low. The sound drivers are able to optimize the sound output up to a certain level, beyond which the audio distorts. The lightweight nature of the headphones has enforced Tekfusion to use small sound drivers, which is a shame.

If you’re in the market for an affordable pair of audio accessory which is low on bass then, Ecoofers are worth the try. For Rs 799 there’s not much to talk about and one must understand that the Ecoofers are not built for heavy duty usage.
