Why Neerja is a Story That Needs to be Told

The cast and crew of Neerja explains why the story of air hostess Neerja Bhanot is worth telling.

Everyone involved in the making of Neerja is convinced that the story of this seemingly ordinary air hostess, is no ordinary tale. The film’s makers shared a video about why they believe this human story of courage displayed by someone ‘regular’, is one that will inspire each one of us to find our our strengths and potential.

Because it’s not about a Jhansi ki Rani. It’s about an ordinary girl, like you and me, who’s placed in an extraordinary situation and is able to overcome her fear, able to look fear in the eye and then rise above it to do an act of immense courage.

I’m very interested in capturing truth and reality. The responsibility was really to try and see, how do you even begin to imagine and capture, what that feeling must have been. And you can’t do that unless you actually put people through a certain process. Everyone around me needs to understand the responsibility of that.
