From claims surrounding the festival of Holi to altered visuals being linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mauritius, here's a recap of the top five pieces of misinformation that we debunked this week.

1. Rajasthan: Person Killed in Dausa Holi Incident Was Not a Muslim

A video showing CCTV footage of a few people beating a man is being shared on social media platforms, with a communal claim that it shows a Muslim man being beaten up by a 'Hindutva' mob when the former refused to play Holi in Dausa, Rajasthan.

However, the claim is false. Dausa's Superintendent of Police (SP), Sagar, confirmed to The Quint that the deceased and accused belonged to the same community, that is, Hindu community.

2. Fact-Check: Video of Anant Ambani Promoting Gaming App Is AI-Generated

A video appearing to show businessman Anant Ambani endorsing a gaming application developed by the Ambani Group called, 'Avi,' is being shared on social media.

• In the clip, Ambani purportedly claims that the app could enhance the earnings of middle-class Indians.

Is it true?: No, the audio in this video has been generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make this false claim.

• The original video dates back to 2024, when Ambani held a press conference about Vantara, an animal reserve in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

3. Edited Video Viral To Claim That Song on Inflation Was Played For PM Modi

A video showing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi being welcomed in Mauritius with a music group allegedly singing a satirical song on inflation and rising prices ‘Mahangai Dayan Khaaye Jaat Hai' was shared on social media, shortly after he visited the island nation on 11 and 12 March.

The Quint found that the video had been edited to add the song. In authentic footage of PM Modi's visit, one can see that he was received with a 'Geet-Gawai' performance.

4. No, This Video Doesn’t Show Baloch Liberation Army Attacking Train in Pakistan

Amid the incident of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacking a train in Pakistan with over 300 passengers, a video of a huge fire is now being circulated on the internet, with users linking it to the incident.

But...?: The claim is false. While the viral clip is from Pakistan, it shows a fire breaking out near Super Highway in Karachi and is not related to the BLA hijacking a train.

5. Fact-Check: Does This Video Show Holi Celebrations? No, It’s From China

A video showing a series of coloured smoke bombs going off along a line of firecrackers on the street went viral on social media, where users claimed that it showed Holi celebrations.
