Amid the incident of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacking a train in Pakistan with over 300 passengers, a video of a huge fire is now being circulated on the internet with users linking it to the same incident.

What did the viral post say?: Sharing the clip, an X (formerly Twitter) user said, " Footage Of Baloch Liberation Army's Capture Of Jaffar Express Carrying 100+ Pakistani Forces Surfaces Online. The group demands an end to Pakistani air strikes and has vowed to execute the hostages if any "military intervention" is undertaken."

What are the facts?: The claim is false. While the viral clip is from Pakistan, it shows a fire breaking out near Super Highway in Karachi.

What led us to the truth?: On conducting a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip, we found similar visuals uploaded on a verified Instagram handle, 'geonewsdottv'.

  • The video was posted on 10 March with a caption that said, "A fire broke out near Mir Chakar area in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Maymar on Monday. The cause of the blaze remains unknown."

Comparing visuals: We compared some keyframes from the viral video to the visuals available in the YouTube clip and found that both of them carried several similarities.
