Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister Dr G Parameshwara is batting for restructuring the administration of the city, which will take place in the next few months. “One commissioner cannot look after all of Bengaluru. Administration of the city through the present setup has become very difficult,” he said, at an interaction with The Hindu in Bengaluru on Wednesday, 21 November.

“Bengaluru was 220 sqkm, but we expanded the city to include 110 villages. It now 800 sqkm. We are looking at it closely to see whether we are going to divide the corporations or not,” he said, adding that the government is also considering whether the commissioner could be elevated to commissioner of the city, and each of the zones be made independent commissionerates.

“We have to study the Bengaluru Restructuring Report of the BS Patil-led committee and see how practical the recommendations are. We will soon take a call and restructure the city administration in the next few months,” he said.
