From fake claims being circulated around the upcoming Delhi elections to an old visual being falsely shared as former PM Dr Manmohan Singh touching Congress' Sonia Gandhi's feet, read our weekly recap to find out the top five pieces of misinformation that went viral this week.

1. AAP, BJP Share Edited Visuals & Deepfake Videos Ahead of 2025 Delhi Elections

Ahead of the upcoming elections in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a video leaning into a meme from web series 'Panchayat' targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its policies in the state.

It showed two actors criticising irregularities under the different schemes introduced by the ruling government in Delhi.

Even though the video had a watermark that said 'spoof', this deepfake could have easily misled people. Team WebQoof passed the video through a detection tool named 'TrueMedia', which found substantial evidence of the clip being manipulated.

The tool showed substantial evidence of manipulation.

Soon after this, the AAP, shared a video from the same web series which showed the actors boasting about the ruling government in Delhi and highlighting various 'amenities' people receive due to the schemes.

As one can imagine, this video was a deepfake and its caption mentioned the word 'spoof'. TrueMedia's detection tool found substantial evidence of manipulation in the clip.

Both these clips highlighted the need for media literacy and to avoid falling for such m/disinformation, which might also contain propaganda.

3. Does This Image Show Former PM Manmohan Singh Touching Sonia Gandhi’s Feet? No!

Following former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's death, an image was being circulated on the internet claiming that it showed an old visual of him touching Congress' Sonia Gandhi.

However, we found that the claim was false. It actually showed a Congress representative touching the feet of Gandhi in 2011 at the Indian Youth Congress' national level convention in New Delhi.

4. No, This Clip Doesn’t Show Pakistani Man Marrying His Own Mother
