A video is being shared on social media platforms with a claim that a Pakistani youngster named Abdul Ahad married his mother, who raised him for about 18 years.

What have users said?: Those sharing the video have said, "In Muslim Pakistan a Son marries his Mother. The societal degradation had reached on melting point. Although its Pakistan so anything can happen! (sic)."

What are the facts?: The viral claim is misleading. It actually shows Ahad arranging his mother's second marriage to a different person.

How did we find that out?: We noticed a watermark of an Instagram handle written on the right-side of the video that said '@all.about.pakistan'.

  • On searching for the handle on Google, we found an Instagram account with the same name.

  • It was published on 29 December 2024 and its caption mentioned that the clip showed Ahad arranging his mother's second marriage to someone else.

  • In the comments section, the account clarified that some people had misinterpreted the video. It said, "This son arranged his mother's second marriage to someone else, not himself. His father passed away, and his mother devoted her life to raising him. He decided to arrange her marriage for her happiness."

  • We also found Ahad's Instagram handle tagged in the post's caption.

  • Team WebQoof had found the same video posted on Ahad's Instagram handle on 18 December 2024.

  • We found that the full-length clip showed his mother signing wedding documents with her husband.

  • The video also carried a message sent by Ahad to his step-father.
