AI-Generated Images of Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh With Child Viral as Real

AI-detection websites such as TrueMedia and HiveModeration stated that all three images were AI-generated.

A set of three images showing celebrity couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh with a baby is being shared on social media platforms. Those sharing have claimed that it shows the couple with their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh.

Is the claim true?: All three images have been created using artificial intelligence (AI).

What we found: Upon closely examining the images, we noticed some discrepancies in them, hinting that they could be AI-generated.

• In the first image, one of the child's fingers are missing and the other hand seems deformed.

• In the second image, a glove is missing from Padukone's hand. The third image shows Padukone with a missing earlobe and Singh with a deformed earlobe.

We, then, ran the images on AI-detection websites such as TrueMedia and Hive Moderation. The results are the following.

TrueMedia: The report deemed all three images with "substantial evidence of manipulation."

• It noted that the images looked exceptionally refined with sleek skin textures, ideal lighting, and flawless element integration, traits that are typical of AI-generated visuals. Moreover, the image does not exhibit any clear artifacts or anomalies commonly associated with digital altercations like warping or uneven lighting typically present in fake images.

Hive Moderation: The website gave two images 99.9% and one image 98.7% - "likely" to be AI-generated content.

Padukone and Singh hosted an event for the paparazzi in Mumbai to introduce their daughter Dua on 23 December. This was the first public appearance of the couple since their daughter’s birth in September. However, the couple has not shared their daughter's images publicly as of 3 January.

Conclusion: Three images generated using AI have gone viral to falsely claim that they show Padukone and Singh with their daughter.
