Ringing Bells Delays Delivery of Freedom 251 Phone to 6 July Now

The delivery of the world’s cheapest smartphone has been further delayed by the company.

The Ringing Bells saga has reached the point where we have totally lost hope of anyone getting it. And now, reports indicate that the eagerly waiting 2 lakh buyers will have to wait a little longer and count on their stars to get their hands on the phone.

Reports indicate that a possible delay in delivering the phones. The delivery of Freedom 251 phones will start from 7 July, instead of 30 June. Apparently, the company’s CEO Mohit Goel is looking to rope in Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his project – as part of the Make in India campaign.

Now, we all are aware that the Prime Minister is headed to Africa for few days, starting from 7 July. So, it will be intriguing to see if he actually makes to the event that Ringing Bells is reportedly holding out on that day itself.

In addition to the delayed delivery, customers will also have to face the prospect of going through a lucky draw, done by the company to determine who gets the Freedom 251 smartphone. The sad bit is, It doesn’t really matter whether you were the first or the last one to register.

We’re not sure when the supposed lucky draw will take place, what the criterion for winning will be or how long customers will have to wait for their phone.

It does help that Ringing Bells decided to do away with online payment as it ensures that the brand doesn’t accrue any money before the phone is delivered to the buyers.
