Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan may be on their way out.

Keeping a hawk’s eye on Tuesday’s events was Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his coterie of men from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who have now called for an urgent Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting today evening to decide upon the possible expulsion of the two, just weeks after they were pulled off the national Executive and the PAC.

A battle that is now being perceived as an ideological clash could reach its logical end today, with the ultra-lefts and socialists being shown the door by the Aam Aadmi Party, which has always taken pride in the fact that its ideology has been hard to label and pin down.

Swaraj Abhiyan VS AAP

The events of the last few weeks culminated in the Swaraj Samwad - which AAP declared was “unauthorised” - presided over by Yadav and Bhushan. Sharing stage with them were the likes of Professor Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha, whose journey with AAP is also likely to end.

What emerged was an “alternative politics” outfit that, Yadav said, would provide a platform to everyone to express their opinion - clearly hinting at the despotic structure that had gripped AAP.

Though Yadav and Bhushan have just sketched out a basic outline of the Swaraj Abhiyan - which they have reiterated is apolitical - whether or not it will directly take on AAP in future, remains to be seen.
