Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bharuch and former Union Minister Mansukh Vasava resigned from the party on Tuesday, 29 December.

“The BJP has given me more than I can handle. For which I would like to thank the party and the central leaders of the party. I have been as loyal to the party as I could be. The party values, the values of life are also carefully implemented,” Vasava said in his resignation letter, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Vasava further said that he would resign during the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament.

A six-time MP and one of the senior most leaders of the party, Vasava’s resignation comes after he wrote to PM Modi last week seeking withdrawal of a notification from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change that declared 121 villages of Narmada district as eco-sensitive zone.

PTI quoted BJP state spokesperson Bharat Pandya as saying that the state unit received the resignation letter, addressed to state BJP president CR Paatil, only through social media.

“Paatil has spoken to him and assured him that any issue he has will be resolved. Vasava is a senior MP from Gujarat and we will resolve all his issues,” he reportedly said.
