Following Malegaon blast accused Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit’s plea, challenging the framing of charges against him in the trial court, the Supreme Court rejected it and asked him on Friday to approach the High Court, reports ANI.

Also, NIA Chief Sharad Kumar, since there was no evidence found against him, said last week that Lieutenant Colonel Purohit was not involved in the Samjhauta express blast.

Purohit’s case is linked to bomb blasts in the Samjhauta Express train near Panipat, Haryana in February 2007. It had led to 68 casualties and 12 injured passengers. He is also the main suspect in the 2008 Malegaon blasts.

He had previously written to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on 4 April, requesting restoration of honour.

He maintains that he has been falsely implicated and has now been in jail for seven years.
