Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to discuss the unrest in the Kashmir valley. She met PM Modi in Delhi, at his official resident at around 10:30 am.
This is the first time that the two dignitaries have met to discuss the situation in Kashmir. The Valley has been under curfew for 50 days; the situation remains immensely turbulent.
After her meeting with PM Modi, Mehbooba Mufti addressed the media. Here are the highlights.
On PM Modi
Commenting on her meeting with Narendra Modi, Mufti said the Prime Minister is very concerned about the situation in Kashmir.
Just like all of us, PM Modi is also very concerned and the situation in J&K.Mehbooba Mufti
She further said that the situation in Kashmir is deplorable and it is a matter of concern for everyone including the PM.

Commenting further on the PDP-BJP alliance in Kashmir, she said that it was aimed at bringing peace into the valley and for the betterment of the Kashmir crisis.
Like Mufti Sahab used to say that Modi ji has 2/3rd majority and if during his time the situation doesn’t change then it will never change.Mehbooba Mufti
She also commented on the UPA government and how they ignored the Kashmir issue, hoping that the BJP government will not deviate from its promises.
On Pakistan
Blaming Pakistan for the unrest in Kashmir, she said that Pakistan has been openly trying to provoke and fuel tensions in the valley. Instead of making efforts to better the situation, Pakistan is trying to incite and provoke violence.

She supported Prime Minister Modi and Home Minster, Rajnath Singh as they both made efforts to talk to Pakistan and now the ball is in their court.

About Kashmir
Speaking to the media, she also asked them to support her and hence help better the situation in Kashmir.

“Anything that happens in Kashmir is our concern”, she further said about commoners being killed in the Valley.
She also commented that the separatists who incite violence among the youth of Kashmir only want bloodshed and not a discussion. But, people who actually have a different ideology, they should be ready to talk about the situation.
People of Kashmir want to live in peace, and India is such a powerful democracy that it can do that.Mehbooba Mufti
