A five-year-old boy, Soham Katte, died and four others were injured after a gas cylinder leaked and led to an explosion in Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai, early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 6.25am in LIG Colony, in sector 3, near KLE college.

Members of the Jadhav and Katte families, who are neighbours, were injured in the blast.

The injured include the deceased child’s father Baban Katte, 42, his mother Shubhangi Katte, 32, and their neighbours Ashwini Jadhav, 32, who is in a serious condition, and her husband Nanaso Jadhav, 35.

“I think the gas cylinder started leaking in the Jadhav family’s house at night while everyone was asleep. In the morning, when Ashwini woke up and switched on a light, there must have been some spark in the electric meter fixed inside the house. 5. Aurangabad Violence: Police Look at Booking Flipkart for Online Swords

Police in Maharashtra are exploring the possibility of levelling criminal conspiracy charges against Flipkart after the Aurangabad Crime Branch recovered a consignment of 30 weapons, including 12 swords and 16 knives, that were allegedly ordered online through the e-commerce firm.

According to police, orders for most of the consignments were placed on May 16 by 24 local residents and the weapons reached a courier company’s office for delivery on May 21. The orders were placed days after Aurangabad witnessed clashes over rumours of water connections being disconnected, leading to communal riots on May 11 and 12 in which a boy was killed.

The orders were placed under the categories of ‘toy swords’ and ‘kitchen appliances’, said police. The state’s Anti Terrorism Squad is also part of the probe.

The Dadar Parsi Colony, reportedly the largest Zoroastrian enclave in the world with a dedicated Instagram page, now has its own fire temple. Called the Dadgah Saheb, its opening on Thursday was a grand affair. Chairman of Parsi Resource Group, Jimmy Mistry’s dream didn’t become a reality through magic. It took sweat, determination and a lot of hard work.

Housed in Della Tower, Dadgah Saheb is an imposing 21-storey building with majestic yet simple Persian architecture. Inspired by the Akshardham temple in New Delhi, Mistry designed this edifice 10 years ago. “The Akshardham temple not only makes one proud to be a Hindu but also proud to be an Indian. I wanted to bring similar pride here,” said Mistry.

The fire temple was enthroned on Thursday in the presence of 14 priests, at the hands of Vada Dasturji Dr Fireoze Kotwal, Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor and Vada Dasturji Cyrus Noshiwan Dastur. “This is a secondary non-consecrated fire so that Parsis can go inside the temple and pray without the presence of priests. The fire from the Vendidad and Faresta will be enthroned inside the temple,” said Mistry.
