Pakistan on Saturday, summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner over the Line of Control (LoC) firing that killed two people earlier on the same day.
Two people were killed and two others injured after Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district early on 8 July. The Pakistani army initiated an unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms and mortars.
“The victims comprised an off-duty jawan and his wife. The couple’s two children were injured when a shell fired from across the border hit their house on the LoC in Gulpur area,” the police said.
“The firing which started from 6.30 am, is ongoing and our forces are effectively retaliating,” Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS.
Meanwhile, two army jawans were injured in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora on Saturday morning.
