- In a move that will come as relief for the troubled family of the late Mohammad Akhlaq, Allahabad High Court on Friday put a stay on the arrest order against them, reports CNNNews18.
- Earlier, the family moved to the Allahabad High Court to challenge a court order which directed for a police case to be filed against them for storing and consuming beef.
- The FIR for cow slaughter was filed on a request backed by one of those accused of Akhlaq’s murder. It was claimed that on 26 September 2015, Akhlaq and his son Danish were seen beating the calf. Later, a villager saw Akhlaq holding down the calf while his brother killed it, the petition said.
