Two of the several accused of lynching Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri in 2015, have been granted bail by the Allahabad High Court.

Arun and Punit's bail applications were allowed by Justice UC Srivastava on Thursday, on the condition that they will not tamper with evidence, or delay the trial in any manner. The order was released on Tuesday, reported Hindustan Times.

The two accused were granted bail as they were not named in the FIR, said the court. Shaishta, Mohammad Akhlaq's daughter, did not name the two in her initial statement to the investigating officer. The court added that she disclosed their names to the magistrate 68 days after the date of the incident.

Both Arun and Punit have been in jail since December 2015.

In September 2015, Akhlaq was dragged out of his house and killed by a mob on suspicion of eating beef, which had triggered communal tension in the region.
