  • Agency reports reveal that Pakistani columnist Mehr Tarar was questioned by the Delhi police’s Special Investigation team (SIT) in connection with the Twitter spat that had broken out between her and Sunanda Pushkar in January 2014.

  • Pushkar, the wife of then Union minister Shashi Tharoor, was found dead at her suite in the Leela Hotel on 17 January 2014. The death came just a day after the spat with Tarar on social media over the latter’s alleged affair with Tharoor.

  • Following Sunanda’s death allegations had been leveled against Tarar by journalist Nalini Singh in the case. Singh had claimed that her friend Sunanda wanted her help in retrieving BBM texts exchanged between Tharoor and Tarar.

  • Questioned by the Delhi Police, Tarar denied any such allegations of an affair with Shashi Tharoor. Earlier, reports had emerged that the Delhi Police was doubtful about questioning Tarar as there was no legal binding on her to give her consent for questioning by Indian Police.
