The Madras High Court granted permission to Rashriya Swayamsevak Sangh to hold two processions in Kanyakumari and Erode districts but asked them not to wear uniforms similar to that of the police or any other service personnel.

The RSS had asked permission for processions to celebrate Mahasankaranthi in Kanyakumari on 9 January and the annual day celebrations of Ramanujar, Vivekananda and Dr Ambedkar on 10 January, according to The New Indian Express.

The Kanyakumari and Erode police laid conditions on the RSS members that they should not wear half-trousers, white shirts and carry sticks that resemble police uniform. The RSS units in both the districts have now filed a writ petition in the high court.
