The London Pride Parade gave Britishers some much-needed cheer, as a London police officer got down on his knee to propose to his boyfriend during the parade on Saturday, according to the Independent.

The Met Department’s LGBT Network also tweeted the photo of the surprise proposal in support of the parade and the officers.

The department was set up in support of the rights of the LGBTQ community and around 80 police officers participated in the parade by marching in it.

Another officer proposed to his partner within minutes of the first proposal and received a lot of love and support from the department.

The Network is a culmination of two years’ work, which started with a conversation over coffee in Berlin at the European Gay Police Association conference in 2014.

The network will represent the LGBT community and their issues in the police department. It will also ensure that events held on local and national levels are accessible to all and offer support to those who have suffered bullying and discrimination.

The proposal got a lot of positive support and reactions from those at the parade and from the rest of the world.

When the network encountered homophobic trolls trying to ruin the sentiment of the pride and proposals, they shut them down in a sassy manner.

They even managed to capture the proposal on video, which you can watch right here.
