Uddhav Thackeray becomes the first from his family to be sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra on Thursday, 28 November, at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

Former CM Devendra Fadnavis, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and many opposition leaders were present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Six MLAs, two each from Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena also took oath.

Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh gave the event a miss.

While the NCP will get the deputy chief minister’s post, the Congress will appoint a Speaker from its party as an arrangement of the alliance.

The alliance claims the support of 166 legislators, well above the halfway mark of 145 in the 288-member Assembly.
