From an old video of Member of Parliament (MP) Asaduddin Owaisi going viral with a false claim to an old and unrelated clip being passed off as a recent incident from Telangana's Hyderabad, here are the top five pieces of misinformation that went viral this week.
Following the passing of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Parliament, a video of Owaisi went viral, claiming that it showed him laughing with other leaders after the bill was passed.
Republic TV, too, shared this clip on their official X (formerly Twitter) page.
But the truth is that the video dated back to 29 January and showed visuals after the conclusion of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC)'s meeting where the bill was reviewed.

An X user called '@tj_littlejohn' shared a post claiming that the Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli sent him a 'Cease and Desist' order over an application that he developed that mimicked the art style of the studio.
We found that the letter was fake. Studio Ghibli denied such an order to any entity.

The post had gained significant traction, with it receiving over 75 thousand views on the platform.
However, the video dated back to February and showed lawyers protesting against the Advocate (Amendment) Bill near Tis Hazari court.
