1. Anurag Kashyap Calls CAB ‘A Consequence of Voting for This Govt’

On Wednesday, 11 December, the Rajya Sabha passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). While speaking exclusively to The Quint at an event in Mumbai, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap reacted to the implementation of CAB and said, “My instant reaction to it? My instant reaction to it is why and how and it’s not going to stop. We have voted for it, we should keep getting it. We will keep getting it. I’ve like literally switched off, I do not endorse anything.”

2. Priyanka, Nick Announce Amazon Series, Call It ‘Sangeet Project’

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who recently celebrated one year of their wedding anniversary, have just announced a unique Amazon series based on the Indian pre-wedding tradition of sangeet. According to entertainment website Deadline, the show is currently untitled and casting for it is underway. Priyanka and Nick’s Amazon series will also follow couples, along with their family and friends, as they prepare for this ceremony as well as the wedding. Filming for the show will begin in 2020.

3. Vidya Announces ‘Shakuntala Devi’ Release Date With Math Question

The release date of Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi has been announced, and in a very ‘mathematical’ way. Vidya released a video in which she’s saying that the film will release exactly 148 days from now, and then goes on to give another puzzle, that the total of the date, month and the year equals to 8. She even tried to convey the same using emojis. The biopic will be releasing on 8 May 2020.

4. Did Aashiq Abu Meet SRK at Mannat for a New Project?

While Shah Rukh Khan’s next project have been flying around ever since the release of his last film Zero in 2018. According to The Indian Express, the actor has been signed on for Malayalam director Aashiq Abu’s yet untitled film, which will be penned by Kumbalangi Nights writer Syam Pushkaran.

Abu recently visited SRK at Mannat, his home in Mumbai. He shared a few photos of the two posing with the actor, which have further fuelled speculations.

5. Veteran Telugu Actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao Passes Away

Actor, writer and screenwriter Gollapudi Maruthi Rao passes away.  

Veteran actor, writer and screenwriter Gollapudi Maruthi Rao passed away on Thursday at a private hospital in Chennai. He was 80. He was undergoing treatment at Lifeline Hospital in T Nagar after falling ill and succumbed at around 12 noon. Hospital sources told The News Minute that he was undergoing treatment for age-related ailments.

The actor debuted in Telugu film industry with Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya, which released in 1982. The movie also starred Chiranjeevi and Madhavi. Apart from acting, Rao had also written dialogues for the film.
