Visuals showing Jana Sena leader and deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Pawan Kalyan donning a skullcap while sharing a meal at what appears to be a Muslim household is being shared on social media.

  • Some users sharing these visuals are claiming that they show Kalyan at an iftar party during the ongoing holy Muslim month of Ramadan. Some users also connected this image to his visit to the 2025 Kumbh Mela.

(Archived versions of more claims on social media can be seen here, here, and here.)

But...?: Neither are the photos recent nor do they show Pawan Kalyan at an iftar party.

  • They date back to March 2019 and show him at a Jana Sena candidate's house ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

How did we find out the truth?: We ran a reverse image search on the photo in one of the claims, which led us to a photo story by The Hans India, published on 25 March 2019.

  • The report carried six photos of Kalyan, mentioning that it showed him 'enjoying Quran and biryani' during an election campaign in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

  • In another report published on the same day, The Hans India elaborated that Kalyan had gone Jana Sena Party's candidate Sheikh Zia Ur Rehman's house while campaigning for the 2019 general elections.

  • Rehman was campaigning from the Guntur East assembly constituency.

  • The Jana Sena Party's official Facebook page also shared these photos in March 2019 with the same information.

  • It's important to note that Ramzan 2019 was observed between May and June.

Conclusion: Six-year-old visuals of Pawan Kalyan at Jana Sena Party MLA Sheikh Zia Ur Rehman's house are being shared as recent visuals of him at an iftar party.
