Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday, 31 August, met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in Patna and gave a call for a "BJP-free India" at a joint press conference.

“After speaking to Nitish ji, he has said it’s his wish too, that all the opposition parties must unite forces for a ‘BJP-mukt Bharat’ (India free of BJP)."

Addressing a press conference in the presence of Janata Dal (United) chief, whom he referred to as "big brother," KCR said that discussions will be held in detail and the members of the alliance against the Bharatiya Janata Party at a national level will be revealed soon.

Nitish Kumar is among the senior-most and best leaders in the country. We will decide these things later," Rao said, when asked about the prime ministerial candidate of the Opposition alliance and the role of the Congress.

KCR Slams Modi Over Trump, Adani Ties

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief blamed the Narendra Modi-led Union government for “capital drain," and also criticised the Centre's Agnipath recruitment scheme and privatisation of government entities.

KCR also ridiculed Modi for having uttered “Ab ki baar Trump sarkaar” during a visit to the United States many years ago, calling it a “diplomatic blunder."

“Everyone knows BJP spends the most during elections. It’s the most wealthy party. There are scams happening. Sri Lankan officials have said they were pressurised (by Prime Minister Narendra Modi) to give contracts to his friends (Adani Group). PM Modi has interfered in the US presidential elections and expressed support for Donald Trump. Where will such morals take our nation?”

He also criticised the Union government’s power policies and alleged that farmers were being harassed to serve the interests of corporates.

The Telangana CM had been visiting Patna to give financial assistance to the families of Indian soldiers who were martyred in Galwan valley in 2020 and Bihar workers who lost lives in a fire mishap in Secunderabad.

'Get-Together of 2 Daydreamers': Sushil Modi

Earlier on Wednesday, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi had taken a dig at the meeting between Nitish Kumar and KCR, labelling it as a "get-together of two daydreamers."

Modi said that the meeting was between two leaders who were losing support in their respect states, but "desiring to become prime minister of the country."

Nitish Kumar had broken his party JD(U)'s alliance with the BJP earlier this month, and joined hands with the Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janata Dal.
