In a joint operation, the Delhi Police and Rajasthan Police on Saturday, 9 December, arrested three people (including two shooters) in connection with the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.
As per NDTV, the two shooters — Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji — were arrested from Chandigarh, where they were accompanied by one more associate, Udham Singh, who was also caught.
Jaipur Commissioner of Police Biju George Joseph said, "...Haryana Police and Punjab Police also helped us in the work and provided us with inputs. After reaching Hisar, Special team of Delhi Police joined us and carried out the investigation. On 8 December, we got their real-time info. The two shooters and the one who was providing logistical assistance were arrested from outside a hotel in Chandigarh Sector 22, yesterday."
Joseph added that they have been brought to Rajasthan and said, "further investigation will be done. We are tracking all details from the past...Our main target is to reach the kingpin," as per ANI.
Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead at his home in Jaipur's Shyam Nagar area on Tuesday, 5 December. Caught on CCTV cameras, the murder sparked massive protests in Rajasthan.
Police have arrested four people in the case so far.
Gangster Rohit Godara, closely associated with Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, had claimed responsibility for the murder.
Earlier, Ramveer Jat was arrested by the Rajasthan Police for allegedly helping the shooters flee the spot on his bike and dropped them off at Ajmer Road.
The NDTV report further stated that according to the police the shooters were in constant touch with Rohit Godara's close aide Virendra Chauhan after killing Mr Gogamedi - who had also been named in several criminal cases.
The shooters' recent location was traced through their mobile phones, as they had been making calls to Virendra Chauhan while they were on the run, the report said.
