One of the most anticipated series of the year, Aryan Khan's directorial debut, The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, is set to release on September 18.
The cast of the upcoming Netflix series, Bobby Deol, Lakshya Lalwani, Anya Singh, Raghav Juyal and Sahher Bambba, sat down with The Quint and spoke about their favourite on-set moments with Shah Rukh Khan, working with first-time director Aryan Khan, their views on stardom in this generation, and more.
Watch the interview here:
Bobby Deol, who plays Bollywood titan Ajay Talvar, described Aryan's directorial debut as a play "on the perception that people have of the industry". The series follows ambitious industry newcomer Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya), as he tackles fame, ego and jealousy in this daring saga.
It’s what you see spoken about the industry on social media. So he has (Aryan Khan) used those thoughts of people and exaggerated them so that people connect with the show when they’re watching it.Bobby Deol
When asked about being directed by Aryan, Lakshya expressed surprise at his meticulousness, stating, “as actors we are so focused on ourselves; my vanity, my hair, my makeup, my performance. As a director, he was focusing on every aspect of it."
Having worked with both father and son, Deol shared his insights on the similarities and differences between them.
I think Aryan is unique. The fire which he has, is way beyond what Shah Rukh has. Shah Rukh is someone who’s always out there, he never gives up. This child is way beyond that. And to have that quality so young, it must be the same as what Shah Rukh might have been at that age.Bobby Deol
Raghav, portraying Parvaiz in the series, emphasised Shah Rukh's deep engagement behind the scenes of the series. He recounted a scene where he needed to fall in the mud, and Shah Rukh demonstrated it for him, remarking, "I assumed he would just instruct me while standing, but he actually fell down as I was supposed to and was getting really muddy. We don't do anything in comparison to him."
Deol, being a Bollywood veteran, described working with the industry's newest actors in comparison to the previous generation. "I think they’re very level-headed. They don’t throw tantrums - not that the earlier generation did that, but there are few actors who are a little unprofessional when they become stars."
The series, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, features cameos by actors Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Shah Rukh Khan, and producer Karan Johar.
