CAG Report on Rafale 

The Modi government secured a 2.86% cheaper price for Rafale fighter jets than what was negotiated by the UPA, the CAG said on 13 Feb, but flagged that removal of sovereign guarantees only benefitted the French manufacturer, and not India.

The CAG report noted that certain India-specific enhancements in the new deal were “not required” and the MoD overruled the IAF’s proposal on these enhancements

Soon after it was tabled in Parliament, the report was lapped up by BJP to hit out at Congress

The BJP asserted that the CAG had exposed “lies” of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi on the Rafale issue

They further said it vindicates their position that PM Modi got the country a better deal in purchase of 36 fighter jets
