2. Indian Students Stabbed in Ukraine; Two Dead, Accused Apprehended

Three Indian students were stabbed in Uzzhorod in Ukraine at around 3 am on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. Two of them – Pranav Shaindilya and Ankur Singh – succumbed to injuries while Indrajeet Chauhan, the third student, is recovering, according to MEA officials.

4. WB Polls: CPI(M) Agent Beaten Up, Bombs Found in Poll Booth

The second part of phase one of West Bengal Assembly polls for 31 seats, where the future of top state opposition leaders is at stake, began this morning.

Instances of violence were seen in certain constituencies. A CPI(M) agent was allegedly beaten up by TMC workers and obstructed from entering a polling booth, while bombs were found in two bags near another booth in Jamuria Assembly constituency in Burdwan district where polling is underway on Monday.

5. Five Detained For Kollam Temple Fire Which Left 109 Dead, 400 Injured

Five people were detained on Monday in connection with the fireworks show at the Kollam temple which went awry before dawn on Sunday, the Kerala DGP said. At least 109 devotees were killed and over 400 injured when Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “dreadful tragedy”.

Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati is once again under fire after making controversial remarks about Sai worshipers and women entering the sanctum sanctorum of Shani Shingnapur.

The Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth has blamed the worship of Sai as the reason for drought in Maharashtra.
