Ravindra Jadeja smashed a half-century off 39 balls to keep India alive in their run chase in the ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand on Wednesday, 10 July. And the all-rounder was praised by fellow Indian cricketers, who backed him to lead the Men in Blue into the final of the quadrennial tournament.

Chasing New Zealand’s 239/8, India were reduced to 92 for 6 in 30.3 overs when Jadeja joined MS Dhoni at the crease, and stabilised India’s innings. The duo stitched a 100-run partnership with India still needing 48 runs off 27 balls.

Lauding Jadeja’s batting, Harbhajan Singh wrote, ‘Outstanding batting jaddu’.

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina on Twitter wrote, ‘Jaddu, My boy on fire! Way to go brother! We can do it’.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently playing county cricket in England, wrote ‘It has to be him!! The swordsman.. Come on Jaddu’.
