A video showing the President of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump, has gone viral on social media platforms.

In the clip, Trump said, "He's the nicest human being. But we had a couple of occasions where somebody was threatening India. I said, let me help. I'm very good with those people. Let me help. I will do it. I will do it. And I will do anything necessary (imitating Prime Minister Narendra Modi). We've defeated them for hundreds of years. Wow. He was talking about a certain country. But I said, What happened there? So, no, they're all tough and they're all smart. And some are very good people. He's a good person."

Those sharing this clip have claimed that it shows a recent interview of Trump talking about India's Operation Sindoor on Pakistan, in retaliation against the terror attack in Pahalgam.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

  • This video dates back to October 2024, amid the campaigning for the then US-Presidential elections. The interview was with the podcast, Flagrant with Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh.

What we found: At first, we divided the clip into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search on some of them.

  • We were led to a report by NDTV from 9 October 2024. It carried a post by the official X account of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

  • The post (from October 2024) featured a similar clip as the viral video where Trump could be heard talking about PM Modi, calling him the "nicest human being."

  • The post noted, "Former American President Donald Trump, in the Flagrant podcast, describes Prime Minister Modi as the nicest human being but also a total killer." (sic.)

  • We, then, ran a relevant keyword search and found the original video on Flagrant's YouTube channel, uploaded on 9 October 2024.

  • We went through the podcast and found the relevant portions 36:35 minutes onwards.

  • The host was questioning Trump about how were world leaders in person and their personalities. To this, Trump responded by talking about PM Modi.

Modi, India. He's a friend of mine. He's great. He's the nicest. Well, I'll tell you. You need him. Well, they had, you know, before him, they had they were replacing him every year. It was very unstable. He came along. He's great. He's a friend of mine. But on the outside, he looks like he's your father. He's the nicest. Total killer. They did a thing called Howdy Modi in Houston, Texas. And they filled up the stadium. It was me and him. We filled up the stadium. It was beautiful. Like 80,000 people was going crazy. They were walking around today. Maybe I wouldn't be. Maybe you wouldn't do that. We're walking, walking in the middle, waving to everybody. Anyway, but we have a very good relationship. He's the nicest human being. But we had a couple of occasions where somebody was threatening India. I said, let me help. I'm very good with those people. Let me help. I will do it. I will do it. And I will do anything necessary. We've defeated them for hundreds of years. (imitating PM Modi) Wow. He was talking about a certain country. But I said, whoa, what happened there? So, no, they're all tough and they're all smart. And some are very good people. He's a good person.
