A video showing a train travelling along submerged railway tracks is being shared on social media

Those sharing have claimed that it is one from Guwahati amid the recent flooding in the state.

Is the claim true?: No, the claim is false.

  • The video is from Mumbai's Masjid Station located in the city's southern part.

What we found: Upon examining the video, we noticed that "CR" is labeled on the train. This refers to Central Railways.

  • Additionally, the train looked similar to Mumbai's local train network. The Mumbai local falls under the Central Railway.

  • Below are a few examples.

  • We divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a reverse image search on the some of them.

  • We were led to several social media posts asserting that the video originated from Masjid railway station in Mumbai. Swipe right to see the posts.

  • The Quint has been unable to independently verify the time when this video was filmed.

  • As per news reports, Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall around 26 May. This affected the public transport especially the local trains.

  • The Indian Express reported that nearly seven inches of water accumulated on the railway tracks at and around the Masjid Bandar railway station.

  • The Pune Mirror also posted a clip of the Masjid station on their X page on 26 May stating that it was flooded with water amid heavy rainfall.

Conclusion: It is clear that the video is from Mumbai and not Guwahati, as claimed.
