Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed BJP workers at the party headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday, 11 November, after the NDA’s win in the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, congratulating and thanking citizens for having enthusiastically participated in the festival of democracy.
Speaking specifically about the victory in Bihar, PM Modi said that the secret to winning the polls had been the slogan 'Sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwaas'.
The prime minister also spoke about women voters who had a role in the BJP’s victory, saying that the party has a large group of silent voters which is voting for them repeatedly.
PM further asked the public to remain cautious of COVID-19 infection as they celebrated Diwali.
Modi added that whether it is economic reforms, agricultural reforms, security of the country, education, new arrangements or the interest of farmers and labourers, it is the BJP which the country is relying on the most today.
PM Modi said that the fact that there was peace during the counting and no re-polling or recounting was ordered showed the strength of the nation, also pointing out that this took place despite a pandemic.
The prime minister also congratulated NDA workers as well as their families for the success of their work and contribution to the elections, also heartily praising BJP President JP Nadda for the victory.
PM Modi also reflected on the party’s trajectory, saying that at one point in time, they had just two seats and a two-room office. “Today, we are in the entire nation and are winning hearts of everyone!” he said.
Condemning “a national level political party” for being involved in family politics, PM Modi said that in such situations BJP’s role further increases.
PM Modi further said: “In our party, we have to further strengthen the principles of democracy, that is what makes our party powerful.”
Without naming Bengal or Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee PM Modi alleged that those who can’t challenge their party democratically, resort to killing BJP workers. But that won’t help, he said.
PM Modi asked the public to take care of themselves and their families and stay cautious of COVID-19, as they celebrate Diwali. He also asked people to follow “vocal for local” as they did their shopping.
Senior BJP leaders such as party President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah as well as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present at the event which was held to celebrate the party’s victory in the Bihar polls on Tuesday.
