Bombay HC Quashes Case Against Quint Journalist, Retired Soldier

Sensex Slips From Lifetime High

Equity benchmark Sensex retreated from its lifetime high to close 135 points lower today as investors booked profits at higher levels amid weak global cues.

After rising to an intra-day record of 39,487.45 points, the 30-share index turned negative to settle 135.36 points (or 0.34 per cent) lower at 39,140.28. The broader NSE Nifty slipped 34.35 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 11,752.80. The benchmark indices had closed at record highs on Tuesday based on earnings optimism and a forecast of a near-normal monsoon.

Online retail in India is expected to cross USD 170 billion by FY30, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 23 percent, according to a Jefferies report.

Online retail, which is currently around 25 percent of total organised retail market in India, can potentially increase to around 37 percent of the total organised retail market during this period, the report said. Currently, the total online retail in the country is pegged at USD 18 billion.

Reliance Industries Q4 net Jumps 9.8 pc to Record Rs 10,362 cr

Reliance Industries Thursday reported a record net profit of Rs 10,362 crore in the March quarter as robust revenue from retail and telecom businesses offset weakness in core oil refining and petrochemical segment.

Net profit in January-March at Rs 10,362 crore, or Rs 17.5 a share, was 9.8 per cent higher than Rs 9,438 crore, or 15.9 per share, in the same quarter last year, the company said in a statement.
