Maharashtra on Thursday, 25 June, recorded the biggest one-day spike of 4,841 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the state to 1,47,741. The state also recorded 192 fatalities, taking the death toll to 6,931. Tamil Nadu, too, saw its highest-ever daily spike of 3,509 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of infections to 70,977. As many as 45 fatalities were also reported, taking the death toll to 911.

According to the Health Ministry data put out early on Thursday, India had over 4.73 lakh cases, while the death toll stood at 14,894.

A central team led by Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal will be visiting Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana from 26 to 29 June, and interacting with state officials and coordinating with them to strengthen ongoing efforts for management of COVID-19, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

Goa Hoteliers Association met CM Pramod Sawant and urged him to to open hotels with Minimum SOPs.

“A committee met CM Pramod Sawant, we asked him to allow opening hotels with minimum SOPs as current SOPs are practically impossible. Goa is the preferred destination for most Indians and they would love to come here,” Gaurish Dhond, President of All Goa Hoteliers Association told ANI.

Highest Spike of 16,922 COVID Cases Takes India’s Tally to 4.73 L

With the highest single-day spike of 16,922 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in India in last 24 hours, total cases in India stand at 4,73,105 including 1,86,514 active cases, 2,71,697 cured/discharged/migrated and 14,894 deaths.

75.6 Lakh Samples Tested So Far: ICMR

At least 75,60,782 samples have been tested till 24 June, ANI reported quoting ICMR. 2,07,871 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

76 New Cases in Rajasthan

At least 76 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Rajasthan till 10:30 am, ANI reported quoting the state’s health department. The total number of cases stands at 16,085 including 12,646 recovered cases, 3,064 active cases and 375 deaths.

Death Toll in Maharashtra Police Rises to 54

Death toll among Maharashtra police personnel rises to 54 with three deaths being reported in the last 24 hours, ANI reported quoting Maharashtra police. Till date, 3239 police personnel have been cured and 991 are under treatment.

Follow Rules to Avoid Another Lockdown in Bengaluru: Karnataka CM

Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa said that some areas in Bengaluru have been sealed as cases are on the rise.

“COVID-19 cases are increasing in Bengaluru. In its wake we have sealed some areas in Bengaluru. Today we've called a ministers’ and officials’ meeting where further handling of situation will be discussed. In Bengaluru we've arranged all facilities to treat COVID patients,” he said, as quoted by ANI.

“But we are also thinking about the number of cases which is increasing in Bengaluru. I urge people to maintain social distancing and sanitisation if Bengalurians don't want one more seal down,” he said.

Take Strict Action Against erring Hospitals: Delhi HC Tells Centre, AAP Govt

Delhi High Court directed Central and Delhi state government to take strict action against erring hospitals that are not providing real-time update on availability of beds for treating COVID-19 patients, ANI reported. The Court said that communication gap between government and hospital should be reduced.

The court also asked the Delhi government to appoint “dedicated officers” so that there should be no communication gap between the government and hospitals.

Central Team to Visit Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana from 26 to 29 June

A central team led by Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal will visit Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana from 26 to 29 June, and will interact with state officials and coordinate with them to strengthen ongoing efforts for management of COVID-19, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

"During the last 24 hours, a total of 13,012 COVID-19 patients have been cured. So far, a total of 2,71,696 patients have been cured of COVID-19. The recovery rate is 57.43%," it further said.

The ministry pointed out that cases per lakh population in India stood at 33.39 against the world's average of 120.21, while the deaths per lakh population stood at 1.06 – amongst the lowest in the world – against the global average of 6.24.

Maharashtra Govt Decides to Reopen Gyms, Salons in a Week

Maharashtra Minister Aslam Sheikh on Thursday said that the state government has decided to reopen gyms and salons in Maharashtra within a week, with guidelines to be issued for the same.

The Maharashtra government has not taken any decision on allowing religious gatherings in the state, he added, reported ANI.

'SOP for Home Isolation of COVID-19 Patients Modified': Delhi LG

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said on Thursday that only those COVID-19 cases who do not have adequate facilities at home to ensure physical segregation and do not have other medical conditions would require to be shifted to COVID-19 care centres and other facilities.

"SDMA approved modification of SOP for home isolation for COVID patients to meet the twin objectives of containment of local spread and provision of timely medical care for COVID positive cases to save precious lives," he wrote in a tweet.

Delhi COVID Patients Won’t Have to Visit Govt Centres: New Order

After Delhi CM's strong plea to scrap the order which said COVID-19 patients in the national capital would be first referred to COVID care centres for assessment, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has now withdrawn his order.

All coronavirus patients will not have to visit COVID care centres now. Briefing the media through video conference, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the old testing rules will be imposed again in Delhi under which medical teams will visit people at their home to assess whether they can stay in home isolation and need to be sent to hospital.

The state’s capital, Mumbai, reported 1,365 new COVID-19 cases and 58 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 70,990 and death toll to 4,060.

3,390 New COVID-19 Cases in Delhi; Tally Rises to 73,780

Delhi on Thursday reported 3,390 new COVID-19 cases and 64 deaths, taking the tally in the national capital to 73,780 and the death toll to 2,429. As many as 3,328 recoveries were also reported on Thursday.

Meanwhile, neighbouring Gautam Buddh Nagar district of UP recorded its highest one-day spike of 143 COVID-19 cases, with the death toll reaching 20 after one more fatality, PTI reported.
