The number of coronavirus cases in India rose by 22,771 to 6,48,315 on Saturday, in what is the biggest one-day spike. The death toll increased by 442 to 18,655. According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 2,35,433 active cases across the country, while 3,94,226 patients have been cured or discharged, and one has migrated.

No flights shall operate to Kolkata from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chennai and Ahmedabad from 6 to 19 July 2020 or till further orders, whichever is earlier, the official handle of the Kolkata airport tweeted on Saturday, 4 July. This comes amid rising coronavirus cases across the country, with Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai having recorded the highest case-loads so far.

765 New COVID-19 Cases in Andhra Pradesh, Tally Rises to 17,699

Andhra Pradesh has recorded 765 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 17,699 and the death toll to 218.

Complete Lockdown in Bengaluru From 8 pm Saturday to 5 am Monday

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Anil Kumar has said that a complete lockdown will be in force from 8 pm on Saturday till 5 am on Monday in BBMP limits, as per the instructions of Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa.

"Sale of essential items will be allowed during the lockdown, including meat shops. Police action will be taken against people found roaming outside unnecessarily," he was quoted by ANI as saying.

The lockdown comes as Bengaluru has seen an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases in the past few days.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Friday said that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

"This afternoon I felt a slight fever and immediately quarantined myself at home. I have now tested positive for Covid 19. By the grace of Allah, I feel strong and energetic. I will continue to carry on my duties from home. Please keep me in your prayers," he tweeted.
