'Pains to See My Name Being Ruined': Shilpa Shetty on Cheating Case Against Her

On Sunday, Shilpa Shetty issued a statement on Twitter saying she was 'shocked' that an attempt was being made to defame her after a Mumbai-based businessman filed a cheating case against her, husband Raj Kundra and some other people.

The case has been filed just over a month since Raj Kundra was released from Arthur Road Jail after being granted bail in a pornography case by a magistrate court in Mumbai. According to reports, the businessman has lodged a cheating and forgery complaint against the couple and demanded Rs 1.51 crore.

In her statement, Shilpa denied any involvement in the matter. Woke up to an FIR registered in Raj and my name! Shocked! To set the record straight, SFL Fitness, a venture run by Kashiff Khan. He had taken naming rights of brand SFL to open SFL Fitness Gyms around the country. All deals were struck by him and he was signatory in banking and day-to-day affairs".

"We are not aware of any of his transactions nor have we received a single rupee from him for the same. All franchisee''s dealt directly with Kashiff. The company closed in 2014 and was entirely handled by Kashiff Khan," the actor wrote.

She further wrote that it was 'painful' to see her goodwill being damaged. "I have worked very hard over the last 28 years and it pains me to see that my name and reputation is getting damaged and dragged so loosely to get eyeballs. My rights as a law-abiding proud citizen in India should be protected," she said.

The complaint filed in Mumbai reportedly relates to a fitness chain started by the couple, for which which they allegedly took money from investors across India. The person who filed the complaint alleged that the couple had guaranteed him profits but nothing had come out of the deal. He also alleged that he was threatened by the couple when he demanded the return of his investment of Rs 1.51 crore. Other than Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra, the complainant has also named Kaashif Khan, director of SFL Fitness Pvt Ltd, in the case. This case of fraud and cheating has been registered under several sections at the Bandra police station.
