Kangana Ranaut's Twitter account was suspended on 4 May for violating the platform's community guidelines. In response, Kangana accused Twitter of racial bias and said that she will continue to use other platforms to opine about things. "Twitter has only proved my point they're Americans & by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do. I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice, including my own art in the form of cinema: Kangana Ranaut," she said according to ANI.

She added, "But my heart goes out to the people of this nation who have been tortured, enslaved, and censored for thousands of years, and still, there is no end to the suffering." The Queen actor was recently criticized for a tweet inciting violence wherein she called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring back his 'Virat roop' from the early 2000s. Ever since the Bengal election results were announced, Kangana has been tweeting about the need for President's Rule in Bengal and also participated in the #BengalisBurning trend.

A Twitter spokesperson clarified that Kangana's account has been permanently suspended and reaffirmed the micro-blogging site's policy against hate speech and incendiary tweets. "We've been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm. The referenced account has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter Rules specifically our Hateful Conduct policy and Abusive Behaviour policy," they said.

"As explained in our abusive behaviour policy, you may not engage in the targeted harassment of someone, or incite other people to do so. We consider abusive behavior an attempt to harass, intimidate, or silence someone else's voice," they added.

Kangana's sister and manager Rangoli Chandel had also had her account suspended by Twitter in 2020. In a statement reported by Midday, Rangoli said, "Twitter is an American platform absolutely biased and anti-India..."
