The 72nd Cannes Film Festival which began on 14 May saw a number of celebrities walk down the red carpet on Tuesday. Among the Bollywood celebrities who are expected to attend, AR Rahman has already shown up. In fact, he even broke his Ramadan fast at the end of the day and feasted on his iftaar meal at the French Riviera.

He also shared a photo with the caption; “ 851 pm iftaar 🌹🇮🇳 “

AR Rahman also shared a photo of him and his wife Saira Banu attending the Cannes Film Festival. According to reports, Rahman was there to promote his directorial Le Musk.

Le Musk is a unique virtual reality film. At the Cannes Film Festival, AR Rahman will be presenting a special prelude to the film through a unique musical sensory experience called ‘Scent of a Song’. It will be an immersive experience that requires people to sit on egg-shaped pod chairs and put on the VR gear. Every aspect of the experience is accompanied by a special olfactory. Apparently, it was Rahman’s wife’s love for perfumes that inspired the idea of linking scent with perfume.

Speaking about the conception of Le Musk, Rahman told Indian Express:

“It all began with an informal chat I was having with my wife, who is very fond of perfumes. She suggested that I should make a movie on smell, and somehow the idea took tangible shape.”

Le Musk was initially a 20-minute film, which was eventually developed into a 70-minute project. At the heart of it, the film is a murder mystery. Le Musk stars Guy Burnet, Munirih Grace, Mariam Zohrabyan and Nora Arnezeder. The entire film has been shot in Rome, Italy.
